The ILC Global Alliance's Climate Change Committee is holding a webinar on Thursday 24 October 2024 to bring together the joint issues of longevity and the climate crisis; the most important, and too often neglected, phenomena of our times.

Using this webinar, the Committee will advocate for policy change and greater understanding of the interplay between both issues. Expert stakeholders will shed light on what is needed for decision-makers to move the needle on both issues, in order to secure a safer and more sustainable future for all of us.
Confirmed speakers include:

  • Professor Karl Pillemer, Gerontologist, Cornell University
  • Dr. Mayeso Chinseu Lazaro, Educator and Researcher, University of Malawi
  • Nicola Torley, Longevity Consultant, Hymans Robertson
  • Dr Anandita Pattnaik, Policy Officer, UK Health Alliance on Climate Change

This webinar would be of interest to anyone wishing to build their understanding on the links between longevity and the climate crisis, which are too often considered in isolation. Our objective for this webinar is to build a movement and coalition in a space where there is a clear gap in advocacy. Climate and longevity are inextricably connected yet are rarely acknowledged as being so.

This webinar will begin to build a coalition of stakeholders to make the case for decision makers to consider both issues as intertwined and indivisible. Urgent and sustained action to mitigate the impacts of the climate crisis, and to adapt sustainably to longer lives, must follow.
