Launch of Age-Friendly Cities project in another municipality

In March 2019, the Council of Older People of São José do Rio Preto, municipality in the State of São Paulo, launched the project “City for All Ages” with a keynote address of Dr. Alexandre Kalache and a meeting, both hosted by the major and the first lady, with all municipal secretaries. The secretaries will be forming an intersecretarial committee whose objective is to develop emblematic actions targeted at older people and/or ageing.

The keynote address was attended by the representatives of the Council of Older People, the secretaries, civil society organizations, as well as academics and the private sector. The project in São José is financed through the philanthropic arm of one of Brazil’s biggest energy providers, CPFL Energia, and is implemented with support of ILC-BR. The meetings were also attended by ILC-BR’s team, Elisa Monteiro and Ina Voelcker, as well as Prof. Dr. Marília Louvison of the Faculty of Public Health of the University of São Paulo who is also a board member of ILC-BR.
